We hope you will be joining us for our 8th Annual Montessori Alliance of Tennessee Conference, Our Roots: Community! Our Annual Conference will be held at Montessori Academy in Brentwood, TN on Saturday, September 17th from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. A Literacy Session is also offered, also at Montessori Academy, and will be Sunday, September 18th, from 8:30 - 11:30.

Saturday's Keynote Speaker is Dorothy Harman and her presentation is The Relationships We Weave. Dorothy Harman is an Early Childhood credentialed Montessorian. She holds a BA in Early Childhood Education, a MA in Curriculum and Instruction, and a MA in Curriculum and Instruction with an Emphasis in Integrative Creative Arts. Dorothy is a Montessori Teacher Trainer at the University of Nebraska-Kearney where she trains new Montessorians in her passions: Cultural Studies, Language Arts, Parent Engagement, Art and Peace Education. She proudly presents at Montessori and Early Childhood conferences and is the author of Intentional Connections-A Practical Guide to Parent Engagement in Early Childhood and Lower Elementary Classrooms. Dorothy enjoys writing and presenting to adult and child audiences, directing children’s theater, facilitating arts enrichment activities, performing with several bands, and riding her purple motorcycle.

Sunday's additional offering will be a Literacy Session led by Beth Tracy-Kaliski.  In this session she will present an indepth dive into the five elements of reading instruction: phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension. The workshop will cover Orton-Gillingham principles and provide an opportunity to learn how to put the principles into action in the early childhood classroom setting. This in-person three hour intensive will be followed up with three one hour virtual sessions on three Saturday mornings in October (the 1st, 15th, and 29th).  Participants will have access to a Google Drive with resources. Attending the entire 6 hour series will fulfill the TDOE literacy requirement. The cost for the series is $100 per person and is due at the time conference registration ends (September 3rd). Beth Tracy-Kaliski currently teaches in Cincinnati, OH. Beth has been a Montessori teacher for 30 years and is certified in Orton Gillingham at the initial and advanced levels.
