In this dynamic 3-hour virtual workshop, you'll experience facilitator Tammy Oesting's "guide on the side" approach—where deep understanding emerges through engaging activities that mirror how children learn best. "Singing and Storytelling in the Early Childhood Environment" with Leah Walsh
Weaving songs and stories into our classrooms not only activates our senses, makes us smile, and builds community, it also helps young children develop oral language skills that set them up for success. We don’t need to have perfect voices or perform for the children but we do need the skills to create an environment that values creativity, singing, and sharing stories. Leah will give you practical advice and ideas to enhance the language curriculum and bring more joy into your classroom. She will sing with you and guide you in building your confidence so you can incorporate more into your every day.

Leah Walsh is the founder of and lead teacher at Bluebird Montessori in upstate New York. For the past 10 years, she has been presenting workshops at Montessori schools and events, consulting, hosting events for educators and parents, designing materials to be used in early learning spaces, and encouraging others to bring their creative selves to their classrooms and homes. Her background in visual and performing arts feeds her approach to teaching both children and adults. Leah is the Practical Life and Music + Movement instructor at Northeast Montessori Institute in Cambridge, MA. Many years ago, she began sharing her journey and her knowledge online through Instagram (@bluebirdmontessori) where her tiny school became an inspiration to thousands of others. She holds an AMS early-childhood credential.
