Early Childhood Literacy Workshop ~ Memphis, TN~March 30, 2019
MAT will present a 6-hour Early Childhood Literacy Workshop at The Maria Montessori School in Memphis from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (including 1 hour for lunch) on Saturday, March 30, 2019. The workshop will be co-led by Maria Cole, founder and Primary Directress of the Maria Montessori School, and Santina Campbell, Elementary Guide Level I at the school. Among other topics, this workshop will explore: How is a Montessori Primary designed to enhance the young child's vocabulary development? Why do some Montessori children write before they read? What do Primary Guides need to know about the Elementary language curriculum? What do Elementary Guides need to know about the Primary language curriculum? The workshop will include hands-on activities using Montessori Language materials and practical techniques to implement in the classroom. This workshop will enable participants to meet the TN Dept. of Education literacy training requirement for preschool teachers and assistants. The fee is $60/person. Payment can be made by check or cash the day of the workshop. Checks should be payable to Montessori Alliance of TN.

Early Childhood Literacy Workshop ~ Knoxville, TN ~ April 6, 2019
MAT will present a 6-hour Early Childhood Literacy Workshop at Little River Montessori School in Louisville, TN (just south of Knoxville) from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (including 1 hour for lunch) on Saturday, April 6, 2019. The workshop will be led by Aleta Ledendecker, former Program Director at Montessori Educators International, Inc.(1990 – 2017) and former owner, administrator, and teacher at New Horizon Montessori School, Louisville, TN (1978 – 2015). It will explore the Montessori curriculum for reading literacy with a focus on some issues that are often overlooked in our everyday busy-ness of managing an active classroom and will be appropriate for teachers working with students of all ages, because it will integrate how learning at different levels is inter-related. This workshop will enable participants to meet the TN Dept. of Education literacy training requirement for preschool teachers and assistants. The fee is $60/person. Infant/Toddler Literacy Workshop ~ Nashville, TN ~ April 13, 2019

MAT will present a 6-hour Infant/Toddler Literacy Workshop at Cool Springs Montessori School in Franklin, TN (just south of Nashville) from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (including 1 hour for lunch) on Saturday, April 13, 2019. The workshop will be led by Deirdre McCambridge, Toddler Lead Guide at Cool Springs Montessori. It will explore what language is, how children develop language, and what Infant/Toddler teachers can do to promote language development in their students. It will include hands-on experience with some of the materials in the Montessori infant/toddler language curriculum, as well as information about ways to use sign language, music, and poetry to introduce infants and toddlers to the worlds of language and culture. This workshop will enable participants to meet the TN Dept. of Education literacy training requirement for preschool teachers and assistants. The fee is $60/person.
