10th Annual "Our Roots" Conference!
We are delighted to open registration for our annual conference on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at Montessori Academy in Brentwood, TN!
Our theme this year is "Our Roots of Wellbeing." . Wellbeing is an essential part of the preparation of the adult in the vision Maria Montessori had for the growth of each human in the Montessori community. Promoting wellbeing in our Montessori community is a crucial component of professional development, having a great positive impact on the students we serve. By incorporating five elements of wellbeing - physical, emotional, social, intellectual, and spiritual - we can create a culture of health and wellness that benefits staff, students, families, and the school community as a whole. Wellbeing is an evolving state that allows you to achieve your personal goals where you live, learn, work, and play.
To help us explore Our Roots of Wellbeing, conference day will include:
- Sue Pritkzer as our keynote speaker!
- Nearly 20 breakout sessions to choose from!
- Opportunities for first hand experiences with practices of wellbeing!
- A delicious lunch!
- Connection time with other Montessorians!
- A few happy surprises along the way!
Additionally, an add-on opportunity for literacy hours, Weaving Together the Strands of Literacy, is being offered on Sunday, September 15th, from 9:00-3:00. Participation will fulfill TDOE's requirement for six hours of professional development in literacy that some school staff have. The Sunday session will be led by Courtney Hester. Courtney has a master's degree in special education, a Montessori teaching credential from Montessori Education Center of the Rockies (MECR), and is a Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT). Her workshop will cover the topics of reading, morphology, spelling, and dyslexia. Montessori Academy will also host this training.
